STUDIO AKUMAKAZE
has existed in one way or another since the 1990s but it wasn't until May of 2007 that an "official" group formed. Although each member has a unique story of how and why they came to be a member of the group, they all have one common thread...an inextinguishable desire to CREATE.
You can visit Studio Akumakaze at their website here
The members of Akumakaze include:
Chris Hoskins
Artist / Graphic Designer
A master-class penciler and inker, Chris proved to be an invaluable part of the Studio from early on. In time, it became evident that he had much more to offer in the way of graphic design and having no formal training, it makes his accomplishments even more impressive. Chris' inks and application of gray tones on SCRAP have given the book its distinct look.
He is currently working on REQUIEM for Mortality with Brandon Johnson.
Brandon Johnson
Writer / Editor / Manager
Preferring to be called Bjay, he is both the glue and the catalyst of the Studio; having the ability to take people's talents and galvanize them into a resourceful, creative process. A prolific writer, Bjay has a collection of stories and ideas that could fill volumes.
With the rebirth of Studio Akumakaze, he now has a chance to see his ideas come to fruition.
Chris Martin
Illustrator / Graphic Designer
Co-founder of Studio Akumakaze and a "Jack-of-all-Trades" in all things involving art, Chris has had a hand in almost every aspect of the creative processes at the Studio.
Primarily a self-taught artist, Chris also had some formal training in graphic design from OIP&T and currently holds an Associates Degree in that field; although he will admit that his true passion lies in good old-fashioned illustration - specifically character design in the comic book industry.
He is currently working on the Studio's flagship title, SCRAP.
Jahmal Ard
Writer / Illustrator
Having worked with most of the Studio members in some shape or form in the past, Jahmal's creative streak predates even the formation of the company itself and the immense backlog of story ideas he has shows it!
An accomplished writer and a self-taught artist, Jahmal's life-long interest in foreign cultures, literature and folklore has made him a virtual human encyclopedia on a variety of cultural topics. A recent graduate of ITT Technical Institute, Jahmal holds an Associates Degree in multimedia.
His current projects include Spirits 12 and Judo-Man.
Tyler Patrick
Illustrator
The youngest and newest member of Studio Akumakaze, Tyler was originally accepted as an apprentice to the Studio in 2008, his dedication and progress as an artist has earned him an official place on the talent roster. With his inherent talent and potential, be on the lookout for future projects featuring Tyler in late 2009.
